Obhrai comes out in defense of the LGBTQ+ community

March 30, 2017

(Ottawa): In response to the Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity’s inquiry on the CPC Leadership Candidates’ positions on LGBTQ+ rights, as a strong defender of human rights at home and abroad, Mr. Obhrai feels that all Canadians are to be treated equally, irrespective of their sexual orientation, religion etc.

“Members of the LGBTQ+ community are Canadians, enjoying full rights like any other Canadian. As such I support Bill C-16, and I do not think that there should be any other laws or issues specifically targeting any groups. Our laws should apply equally to all Canadians”.

Pride parades across the country are integral parts of our communities as are other festivals.

Mr. Obhrai also expressed his support for the Day of Pink, also known as the International Day against Bullying, Discrimination, Homophobia, Transphobia, and Transmisogyny.
